ICA volunteers are the key ingredient!
Volunteers are a crucial part of every program at the ICA Food Shelf. The dedicated hearts and hands of the community help us complete the countless tasks that go into providing food for more than 12,000 people every year. As a Food Shelf volunteer, you’ll experience endless opportunities to learn, grow, and play a rewarding role in addressing hunger in your neighborhood.
Who can Volunteer?
ICA Food Shelf relies on a diverse range of individuals and volunteer groups.
Our volunteers include individuals, families, senior citizens, corporate groups, religious organizations, school groups, and many others who help us feed the hungry.
The minimum age to volunteer at our Food Shelf locations is 15. Anyone below the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
What opportunities are available?
Every month, ICA Food Shelf relies on hundreds of volunteers to help things run smoothly. Because of this, we have a wide variety of opportunities. These projects typically involve but are not limited to:
Packing and Sorting: Donated food is inspected for quality and either sorted into bins or re-packaged into useable sizes for our agencies.
Shopping Floor/Loading Docks Volunteers: Volunteers help on our loading docks assisting partner agencies in picking up their orders & stocking shelves. Volunteers also are used to maintain the warehouse and assist in keeping the warehouse clean.
Administrative Tasks: Volunteers are also used to work on general office tasks such as data entry, stuffing envelopes and filling paperwork.
Special Projects: ICA is always in need of volunteers who are willing to represent the us and our mission at special events. These events range from tabling at community fairs to bagging for tips at Cub Foods. For our large special events, we will list opportunities on the online Calendar. If you wish to sign up to receive emails on upcoming Special Events opportunities, email email@example.com. Visit our Events Calendar & Look for this icon for current volunteer opportunities!
****COURT MANDATED Service Hours must fill out the required form online. Only non-violent offenses will be considered eligible.
