Meet Rod, ICA’s Board Chair: A Passionate Advocate for Community

Rod Provart, ICA's current Board Chair, is a passionate leader dedicated to strengthening the community and supporting ICA’s mission.

His journey with ICA began through a connection at the nonprofit where he works, when someone suggested that ICA could help feed those living at his organization’s teen shelter. Having lived in Hopkins, Rod was already familiar with ICA and impressed by its work.

“I wanted to join the board because I was inspired by ICA’s Executive Director, Dan,” says Rod. “His leadership and passion for feeding those in need resonated with me. I also believe strongly in ICA’s mission to create a healthy, stable community for all.”

As Board Chair, Rod partners with Dan and the board to define ICA’s strategy and broaden its mission.

“The role of board chair is different because I’m more involved in shaping our direction,” he says. “I work closely with Dan to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our community in the best way possible.”

Rod acknowledges the significant challenges ICA faces, particularly the rising cost of living.

“The cost of living is creating an environment where basic needs—like food and household expenses—are out of reach for many,” he says. “We’re seeing an overwhelming demand for services, and it’s a challenge to meet those needs with the limited resources we have.”

Despite these challenges, Rod is proud of how ICA serves the community.

“Our shopping experience for clients is state-of-the-art,” he says. “Our team values the mission and vision of ICA and works to treat each client with kindness and compassion.”

Looking ahead, Rod’s vision for ICA is clear: to continue growing, collaborating, and serving the community with the same passion and excellence that has defined ICA’s work for decades. By coming together as a community—volunteers, donors, staff, and board members alike—we can continue to create a healthy and stable environment where all are nourished and supported.

“I’m proud to be part of this organization,” Rod says. “We have an incredible team, and I believe we’re on the path to even greater impact. Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry and that every individual is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”
