ICA volunteers are the key ingredient!

Volunteers are a crucial part of every program at ICA. The dedicated hearts and hands of the community help us complete the countless tasks that go into providing services for thousands of neighbors every year. As an ICA volunteer, you'll experience endless opportunities to learn, grow and play a rewarding role in addressing resource insecurity in your neighborhood.

Who can volunteer?

ICA relies on a diverse range of individuals and volunteer groups.

Our volunteers include individuals, families, students, retirees, senior citizens, corporate groups, religious organizations, school groups and many others who help us serve our neighbors.

The minimum age to volunteer is 12; anyone 15 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old in order to directly work with people receiving our services.

Families and children under age 15 can also volunteer at many ICA events, including the annual Postal Drive in May, Tour de Tonka in August, the biannual Big Island & Back, Bagging for Tips, the November Holiday Meal Giveaway and many more.

With hundreds of volunteers working on a weekly basis, plus many more who serve at events or with a group, it’s safe to say we could not serve our neighbors without our volunteers. We'd love to have you join our team!

Regularly Scheduled Volunteers

Regularly scheduled volunteers help ICA deliver excellent service to our neighbors. All regular volunteers commit to a weekly shift of 3.5 hours.

Regular volunteers help in a number of capacities, with positions including shopping support, food logistics, mobile food shelf support, home delivery driver, food rescue driver, NAPS distribution, St. David’s administrative front desk and bilingual interpreter.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Businesses, book clubs, softball teams, scouting groups, families – many groups have made generous contributions of time to ICA – and had fun in the process.

Group volunteer opportunities include assembling snack bins and weekend bags for students in the area, as well as emergency bags.

Event/One-time Volunteer Opportunities

ICA is always in need of volunteers who are willing to represent us and further our mission at events and fundraisers. These events can include community fairs, bagging for tips at local grocers, organizing a silent auction and more!
