SUMMER SUPPORT
Hunger doesn’t stop when school is out for summer. Listed below are resources that provide extra food support during summer for kids K-12.
Kids Summer Market at ICA
Families with children visiting ICA can receive extra food support during their shopping appointment in the summer months. Along with a regular shopping appointment, kids can choose extra produce, non-perishable kid friendly items, eggs, and yogurt. You do not have to register or sign up - just stop by the Kids Summer Market shelf during your appointment at ICA.
SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks is an income-based food support program that provides families with $120 per eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out for the summer. Most eligible children are automatically enrolled when they participate in and attends a school or early education program that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP). When children no longer receive free meals at school, their households might need extra help putting food on the table. The SUN Bucks program is designed to meet this seasonal need.
For each eligible child, families will receive a new SUN Bucks card in 2026. Their account will have $120 in benefits for the summer period ($40 per month for June, July and August). SUN Bucks cards can be used just like an EBT card. This is a nationwide and Minnesota state program, not an ICA program. Please visit https://dcyf.mn.gov/sun-bucks for more information.
